Madeira Flower Festival 2010/Amarílis
To my daughter Madalena.
It is this year in October that eighteen years have passed from the moment you were born. And because the world is also made of love, joy and sharing, I wanted you to grow like this thinking that in life there are always magical days, party days, special days…
When for the first time, fifteen years ago, you first joined the Madeira Flower Festival, you changed forever my contribution to this event. I found out that I could never lose the taste of your smile dancing on the city streets, your hugs and kisses at the beginning and end of the show, and that I would always be involved in this magical party to see you shine, you and your friends as long as your life allowed.
Over the years you made me realize that I was blessed with the greatest gift: to give my body and soul to make your dreams and other children’s wishes come true…
This year I want to return a bit of all you have given me. I want to give you a present. But first I want you to look at these fifteen years of Flower Festival photos and to fully observe the smiles and tears of these special Sundays and believe that I am happy because you are happy. I want you to feel grateful for being in such an amazing group, with friends that have been with you since the first day, for having other friends that go to the streets to see you dance and to applaud you, and to have a very proud mother filled with love that presents you at the Flower Festival.
Inside the astrology studies everything is connected and influenced by other elements. By the correspondence law each sign is related to an element of human existence. Therefore signs have correspondence with colors, with precious stones with perfumes and flowers. “AMARYLLIS” IS THE FLOWER THAT REPRESENTS YOUR SIGN.
Flower Ball 2010/Estoril Palace Hotel
In 2010, the group of Madeira flower festival was invited for the time to shine on the renowned Flower Ball that takes place in the Estoril Palace Hotel.
This solidarity event, organized by Gilda Paredes Alves, is part of the Ball calendar events of Europe.
The girls of the group were responsible for welcoming 300 guests and the opening performance of the ball. The success of the Flower Ball was a lot due to the harmony and beauty that these girls transmitted, promoting in this solidarity way the Flower Festival event in Lisbon.

“….the gladiolus liked being gladiolus and thought to be superior to almost every other flowers…But the flowers that the gladiolus truly loved, the ones that they admired above and beyond were the tulips…
At Winter, the gardener, while burying on the ground the fat bulbs of the tulips would say:
– At the city stores a dozen of tulips is worth a fortune.
But in the heart of the gladiolus flower a tulip was worth much more.
…the only regret in the life of a gladiolus was not being able to be a tulip.
Because tulips are expensive, rare and very well dressed. There personality is simple, exact and clear. Their colors are rich and sumptuous. Their petals are the most well cut and fitted petals in the entire garden…”
